Our Founder

Jerry J. Loomis was born in St. Louis in 1936.  After four years in the US Navy, he studied Landscape Architecture at the University of California-Berkeley, graduating with honors in 1964.  After graduation he worked for world-renowned Landscape Architect Lawrence Halprin in San Francisco.  He was then an associate at Eckbo Dean Austin & Williams (EDAW) from 1969 to 1970.  In 1971 he returned to St. Louis to work for Harland Bartholomew.

Firm History

In 1975 Jerry Loomis founded Townscape in St. Louis, Missouri.  Townscape later became Loomis Debenport Bolton in 1984, which became Loomis Bolton Pickett in 1988, which eventually became Loomis Associates in 1998.  Upon Jerry’s death in 1998, Rusty Saunders became President of Loomis Associates.  The firm’s offices are currently located in Chesterfield, Missouri.
