On May 4th, 2018, the 2.1-mile extension of the Mississippi Greenway within Cliff Cave Park officially opened to the public. Designed by a project team headed up by Loomis Associates, this $4.3 million dollar project extends the existing Mississippi Greenway trail within the park (designed by Loomis Associates in 2006) to a total of 6.5 miles. Future phases of the Mississippi Greenway are planned to connect a continuous trail system from the Chain Of Rocks Bridge to the Meramec River, meaning that the master plan for Cliff Cave Park includes future trails to both the north and the south.

The project team for this phase of the project was as follows:

Lead Designer and Landscape Architect: Loomis Associates
Civil Engineer: Civil Engineering Design Consultants
Geotechnical Engineer: Geotechnology, Inc.
Structural Engineer: McGinnis & Associates

The General Contractor for the project was Ideal Landscape Group, with construction management services being provided by Navigate Building Solutions.
